farewell, 2.0

salam!

needless to say, learn and play was really valuable to me and i feel that i learned a lot from participating in this program. it introduced me to some things that i would have otherwise never really messed with. one of my favorite "things" was checking out the web 2.0 awards. that site gave me the best and most popular 2.0 sites in the web in one place so that i can look through 'em. i can see what other people are liking and using to make their life more interesting (technology-wise).

i also loved the commoncraft videos. i think they were the single most important thing that introduced the technologies to people. they clearly explained the use of each technology in a way that anyone could understand and they did it with nice visuals.

i'm really surprised at how the l&p team were so active and attached to this. it's nice and amusing how they went around to different staff, interviewed them and made cute little videos. another thing i'm surprised at is that there was no facebook exploration(forget myspace, i don't like it :D) listed as one of the 23 things...maybe next time.

if there was another program like this, i would definitely join. no doubt about that.

it's been nice....

my bread is moldi :(

salam!

if you're an audiobook lover, this mid-ohio library digital initiative may be your cup of tea. you can find many, not all, types of books here to download into your mp player. i especially like the fact that you can download books to teach you foreign languages! this would be a great way to learn another language without taking any classes or having to sit down and read a book. you can listen and immerse yourself in another language while you're doing cleaning, exercising, whatever!

it's pretty neat although i don't like the fact that it doesn't work with ipods.

podcasts

salam!

podcasts are definitely useful when it comes to sharing information. like blogs, libraries can create their own podcasts. listeners can keep up-to-date with all the events, programs, and general affairs of the library. podcasts are very portable too, so listener's don't have to stay in one place, they can move about and still get the information they need. also, podcasts don't have to be only for events and programs. libraries can have shows where they do book reviews and suggestions. there are many possibilities for podcasts.

i personally like video podcasts. it's like watching tv on my ipod. i used to love downloading vh1's best week ever on my ipod, but now, i just don't have the time anymore.

itube. do utube?

salam!

i'm so glad for youtube. i'm on it everyday. it is sort of my way of seeing what people aroung the world are up to. people post everything nowadays. also, i love how navigatable the site is.

i love looking up foreign music videos. so i've posted an angolan song that i like. it's in portuguese so i don't know what the lyrics mean, but i love the genre and dance. and on top of that, i love m.i.a (who sings the hook.) the song is called "sound of kuduro" by buraka som systema. kudura is a genre of music and dance from the african country of angola.

enjoy :)

boingboing

salam!

i think i like boingboing.com! it's this website that has all these interesting stories about quirky things going on. the stories range from all subjects and topics and are actually very interesting to read. like they have news on an interesting new book called off the books (it's a book on the economics of the urban poor), a horse that likes to paint, and doing cpr to "stayin' alive." little stuff that i like.

i might have to start checking this website everyday.

boo...i just wanna travel

salam!

i've started to look around boo.com's website and so far, it looks like i could like it. i've been meaning to plan a world trip (yes, not very feasible, but i can dream if i wanna :p) and this website could really help me out. i like how it gives you pictures, hotels, maps, etc all in one place.

i dont see it being very useful to libraries, but i could see librarians using it to plan their own vacations, haha!

what's up, (google) doc?

salam!

once again, i will have to rave about google. this time, it's about google docs. i saw it before, but i didn't really know much about it and what it was about. this summer though, i saw google docs in use by a friend and i was just amazed. it's like, you dont even need microsoft office anymore! it's actually pretty easy to use and all you need is internet!

this is a good tool to use by businesses and organizations that constantly need to share information. it's pretty much like having a meeting face-to-face....except that it's online and you come to the meeting in your own time. sweet.

also, it's pretty good for taking class notes and such.

once again, good job, google.
